SAFFLOWER SEED
Two main types are cultivated: an oil-type with high oleic acid content and a traditional type rich in linoleic acid.
Oil-type safflower seeds are used in animal feeding, particularly as a rich energy source for dairy cattle. This oil supports milk yield and body condition in ruminants.
The safflower meal remaining after oil extraction is a valuable component in the feed industry due to its high protein and fiber content. It can also be used in poultry and waterfowl rations.
Whole safflower seeds can be fed to ruminants by grinding or cracking. The seeds are also a natural source of Vitamin E and other antioxidants.
